Dubai Visa Overstay: Fines and What to Do
What happens if you overstay your visa in Dubai? Daily fine amounts, exit procedure and future impact explained.
What Is Overstay in Dubai?
Overstay means remaining in the UAE after the permitted period on your visa has expired. In Dubai, this results in serious fines.
Overstay Fine Amounts
| Period | Fine |
|---|---|
| First day | 100 AED |
| Each additional day | 25 AED/day |
| First month | ~625 AED |
| Each additional month | ~750 AED |
Note: Fees are subject to update by authorities. Confirm the current amount at the ICP counter or immigration desk at the airport when exiting.
Exit Procedure with Overstay
1. Pay the fine: Payment can be made at the immigration counter at Dubai Airport or via ICP Smart Services.
2. Get your passport stamped: Complete normal exit procedures.
3. Ban risk: A very long overstay or failure to pay may result in a future entry ban.
Can I Leave Without Being Noticed?
No. Visa validity is checked automatically by the system during passport control. You cannot exit without paying the fine.
Impact on Future Travel
- A single short overstay is typically recorded but does not usually affect the next visa.
- Repeated violations or long overstays can negatively affect future visa applications for Dubai and other UAE emirates.
How to Avoid Overstay
- Add your visa expiry date to your phone calendar
- Apply for an extension at least 5–7 business days before expiry
- If early departure is not possible, contact the Dubai Go Visa support team
