A Dubai visa — officially a UAE Visit or Tourist Visa — is an electronic entry permit for travel to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). For most visitors it is issued as an e-visa: no physical stamp in your passport, just a PDF sent directly to your email. Visa authority at the federal level is ICP (Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security); in Dubai it is GDRFA (General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs). A Dubai visa has two separate timeframes that are often mixed up. Validity window: The deadline by which you must enter the UAE after approval — typically 60 days. If you do not enter by this date, the visa lapses automatically at no extra charge. Duration of stay: The number of days you may remain in the UAE once you have entered — 30, 60 or 90 days. Overstaying incurs a fine of 100 AED per day. Extensions of 30 days are available through DNRD for approximately $170–280.

Dubai visa extension, overstay fines and status check
You can extend your Dubai visa while in the country. Apply through the GDRFA (General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs) or DNRD portal; standard visas can be extended by 30 days at approximately AED 624–1,024.
